All On-site Job Description Job Description:
The QMS Specialist is responsible for the execution, maintenance, and continuous monitoring of quality system procedures and processes, supporting the Director of Quality in system governance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the Quality Management System in compliance with
ISO 9001, API
Q1, and applicable customer requirements to ensure certifications are sustained. Maintain consistent application of quality system procedures between the Panama City and Mobile manufacturing facilities, escalating system-level gaps or conflicts to the Director of Quality. Perform day-to-day QMS activities, including training records, procedure distribution, and revision discipline, working in coordination with the Document Control Specialist to ensure timely document updates, controlled distribution, record retention, and compliance with documented information requirements. Administer the internal audit program, including audit scheduling, auditor coordination, follow-up of findings, and verification of corrective actions. Support preparation and execution of Management Review, including compilation of required inputs, performance metrics, audit results, and corrective action status for review by leadership. Maintain and track the corrective and preventive action system, ensuring timely root cause analysis, action assignment, verification of effectiveness, and reporting of trends. Provide QMS-related training and awareness, ensuring employees understand applicable procedures and system requirements relevant to their roles. Track and report key QMS performance indicators, including audit results, corrective action status, document control metrics, and system compliance trends. Support cross-functional QMS activities, working with Operations, QC, Project Management, and other departments to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives. Evaluate overall QMS health and effectiveness by identifying recurring trends, breakdowns, or weaknesses across audits, corrective actions, and documentation, and escalate systemic improvement opportunities to the Director of Quality.
Requirements:
Demonstrated hands-on involvement in quality management system activities within a manufacturing environment, including direct participation in at least one of the following: internal auditing, corrective action administration, document control, or quality records management.
Preferred:
Three or more years of direct, functional experience executing quality management system activities in a steel, pipe, or heavy manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience working within an ISO 9001 or API Q1 certified environment, including direct involvement in internal audits, corrective action processes, or preparation for external surveillance audits. Experience working within SAP, particularly in quality-related functions such as nonconformance tracking, corrective action workflows, or quality notifications. Familiarity with transitioning document control from SharePoint or manual systems into an ERP environment is a plus. Experience supporting implementation or improvement of quality management system processes in an established manufacturing environment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific, or business discipline, or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant work experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
