Classification:
Nonexempt Quality Assurance (QA) Clerk Quality Assurance (QA) Clerk ensures poultry products meet safety and regulatory standards by strictly documenting plant processes. They are primarily responsible for maintaining inspection records, monitoring quality trends, identifying defects, and verifying compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. They act as the vital bridge between the production floor, plant management, and government inspectors, meticulously maintaining records required for USDA and HACCP compliance. This position requires a person to be bilingual.
Core Responsibilities Regulatory Documentation & Record Keeping:
Track and file documents for food safety, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), and SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures). Meticulously log inspection results, test data, and audits into databases
Record Auditing:
Daily review of floor logs to verify Critical Control Points (CCPs), product temperatures, and net weight/packaging compliance.
Floor Verification:
Occasionally perform on-floor inspections (sanitation checks, label verification, and foreign material observation) to ensure the team is following GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Reporting:
Compile data into clear reports for FSQA (Food Safety Quality Assurance) Management and government regulators (USDA FSIS).
Defect Tracking:
Identify, isolate, and report defective products or procedural discrepancies to management or the production team
Key Requirements & Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree in Food Science or Agriculture preferred.
Experience:
1-3 years of administrative or quality experience within a poultry or meat processing plant is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel spreadsheets) and experience using tablets or iPads for paper-free record keeping.
Knowledge Base:
Familiarity with
USDA-FSIS
regulations, HACCP principles, and food safety standards
Physical/Environment:
Ability to work in wet, fast-paced, and refrigerated/freezer environments
Communication:
Strong verbal and written skills. MUST be bilingual Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check are required.
