Job Description

Position Summary The QA/QC Technician is responsible for ensuring all solar photovoltaic (PV) installations meet established quality standards, project specifications, and applicable codes. This role focuses on quality inspections of solar systems installed on rooftops and ground‑mount systems, with particular attention to roofing integrity, penetrations, flashing, and waterproofing to ensure long‑term system performance and building protection. Key Responsibilities Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections on solar PV installations, including mechanical, electrical, and roofing interface components Verify installation work complies with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes Inspect rooftop solar installations for proper mounting, flashing, roof penetrations, and waterproofing methods Ensure roofing materials are not damaged during installation and that roof warranty requirements are followed Conduct in‑process and final inspections of solar modules, racking systems, wiring, grounding, and inverters Identify installation defects related to both solar equipment and roof integration and document findings Generate inspection reports, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and photo documentation Coordinate with field crews, supervisors, and project teams to correct quality and roofing‑related deficiencies Track punch list items and verify completion of corrective actions Support commissioning readiness by confirming system installation quality and roof integrity Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation and records Promote safe work practices and compliance with site safety requirements Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 0-3 years of experience in solar construction, roofing, electrical work, or construction quality inspection Working knowledge of solar PV systems and rooftop mounting methods Basic understanding of roofing systems (e.g., shingle, tile, metal, flat/commercial roofs) Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and installation details Familiarity with flashing, sealants, and roof penetration best practices Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Ability to work on rooftops and active construction sites Valid driver's license Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Honolulu, HI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
