Quality PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to establish and define the basic function, reporting relationships, authority, requirements, responsibilities, duties, and measures of performance of the Quality Technician.
BASIC FUNCTION
The Quality Technician interacts and assists Manufacturing and Engineering personnel regarding part conformance and process capability. This role also assists in training other employees on the operation of CMMs and other measuring devices used for quality assurance. The technician understands, implements, and maintains the Quality Policy in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Quality Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Required:
High School Diploma/GED or vocational school equivalent
Preferred:
Graduate of an engineering program or related 2-year degree
Preferred:
CMM Training/Certification from an accredited educational institution Experience Minimum 4 years' experience working in manufacturing Minimum 2 years of practical and related experience Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Working knowledge of blueprints, models, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) Proficient computer skills and knowledge of using a PC and related software Proficient in editing software to assist in writing CMM programs Excellent ability to work with time constraints and under pressure; well-organized and able to multitask effectively Ability to review and discuss quality concerns or issues for resolution and awareness across various levels of the organization Understanding of production techniques and processes of a precision machine shop Must be able to sign and abide by the Company's employee manual and confidentiality agreement Must successfully complete all necessary checks and screenings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machines, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place. The employee will regularly stand, sit, talk, and listen, and frequently use hands to finger, handle, or touch. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee works in a manufacturing environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and edit programs for Equators/CMMs. Ensure that Equators/CMMs are properly calibrated. Collaborate with Quality Engineering to determine program requirements based on design and engineering specifications. Demonstrate complete understanding of GD&T interpretations. Support all aspects of Quality as it applies to programming responsibilities. Design fixtures and gauges that ensure accuracy and reliability of Equator programs. Utilize MODUS software (or equivalent) to produce safe-to-run programs and verify that components meet print tolerances and specifications. Maintain continual communication with other team members regarding any issues that arise. Maintain and improve the non-conformance (NRB) area through organization, root cause analysis, and issue resolution. Prepare necessary reports and maintain all pertinent records. Establish and maintain all inspection criteria and documentation (inspection reports and procedures). Assist Quality Inspectors and Engineers with other departmental tasks as needed.
