POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Technician provides key support for the Quality Department including environmental monitoring, water testing, production and plant monitoring, vacation coverage for Lab analysts, and other duties as assigned. The QA technician performs data entry and collection, provides project assistance, completes filing, conducts audits, and maintains laboratory and production testing equipment calibrations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows established GLPs, SOPs, SSOPs, Laboratory Methods, and Work Instructions. Adheres to GMP program. Performs audits as assigned. Maintains and supports the Corrective Action Program. Maintains and supports the Environmental Monitoring Program. Cleans and maintains work areas and laboratory equipment. Assists in continuous improvement efforts. Performs testing and maintains equipment calibrations per schedule. Conducts accurate and timely product testing (Maximize warehouse and storage space). Maintains product sample inventory. Conducts prompt and accurate tests that support timely reports: Right the First Time (RTFT), Consumer Complaints, etc. Maintains Production and Laboratory records in accordance with regulatory agencies and plant policy requirements. Maintains security and confidentiality of information within the Quality Department. Complies with plant safety programs, practices, and policies. Submits ideas and suggestions regarding the improvement of a safe work environment. Complies with OSHA and Safety Regulations. Communicates safety issues/concerns to the Management Team. Reports to work on time and participates in all plant, department, and safety training meetings. Utilizes lab meetings to communicate your ideas and suggestions. Participates in performance evaluations.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
Must possess a valid state driver's license, proof of liability insurance and maintain an acceptable Department of Motor Vehicle record, in accordance with company insurance requirements Ability to drive from one location to another throughout work week.
Education:
Required :
High School diploma/GED or equivalent work related experience.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
1-2 years experience as quality assurance technician or equivalent experience preferred Dairy laboratory experience is a big plus Ability to read basic operating instructions Must be able to understand, interpret, and communicate reports and results effectively Highly self-motivated individual comfortable working individually and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet defined deadlines Must have an established work record that depicts that he or she is reliable and adds value to an organization through service and acceptance of responsibility Demonstrates sound communication skills, both verbal and written while communicating effectively with various levels of management Strong attention to detail required Able to work in teams effectively and encourage a positive work environment Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and use problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to ensure all documentation is timely, accurate, and complete Able to work in teams effectively and encourage a positive work environment Ability to learn new concepts, accept and embrace change, and be an active member of operating the business Sound Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency in
Excel Equipment:
Raw milk analytical testing equipment, Finished product analytical equipment, Micro testing equipment, Chemistry testing equipment, Microscope, pH meters, scales, and other standard dairy laboratory testing equipment. Personal Computer, Copy Machine, Fax Machine, Calculator, and Phone.
Physical Requirements:
Standing:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time to perform necessary testing.
Repetitive motions:
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Reaching:
Extending hands and arms in any direction.
Pushing:
Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling:
Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Kneeling:
Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees occasionally.
Crouching:
Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Subject to up to at least 92db's on an occasional basis.
Lifting:
