Position Overview The Quality Control Technician role is vital to the successful delivery of quality concrete to ongoing construction projects. The ideal candidate in this role will conduct routine tests to determine the quality of raw materials, ready mix concrete, and finished products helping to ensure compliance with quality standards To learn more about this specific role and get a feel for our company culture, watch this video: Quality Control Technician Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Monitor production activities Perform daily testing of concrete specimens Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections of precast/prestress concrete products Take proactive steps to reduce/eliminate detailing operations Ensure correct implementation of our QC program Work with the engineering department to ensure drawings and products are consistent Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred One to two years prior QC experience preferred. Work Requirements Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instruction. Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software. May be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical agilities testing. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Previous experience in the precast industry, related industry, or equivalent ACI Field Tech I Quality control certification PCI level II or III, preferred Knowledge of how to read and interpret shop/engineering drawings Basic computer skills Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. periodically throughout the day Key Competencies Customer Service- Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs.
