Job Description

Redfish Lake Watercraft Inspectors at Idaho Division of Human Resources in Twin Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description "Dedicated to Advancing, Protecting and Promoting Idaho Agriculture with a Balanced Approach to Industry and Consumers." The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for temporary Boat Station Pest Detection Specialist in the Plant Industries division located at a Boat Station near Redfish Lake. Join our team and enjoy the wonders of Redfish Lake. Redfish Lake is 60 miles north of Sun Valley and six miles south of Stanley, just off Highway 75. Redfish Lake is the largest lake in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and is a wonderful area for a multitude of recreational activities including fishing, boating, kayaking and swimming. It is in a unique setting with access to excellent hiking trails, lakes, and mountain peaks. The area is also enjoyed by those who wish to run the rivers, photograph, or learn of the charming history.
SPECIAL NOTIFICATION
This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. Housing options may be provided by ISDA including a United States Forest Service bunk house. This position is approximately 40 hours a week, and is expected to begin around May 10, 2026, and will end around September 22, 2026.

Example of Duties This job is part of the agency's statewide invasive species prevention program. This position will serve as a member of a watercraft inspection team stationed at the Redfish Lake Inspection Station in Stanley, Idaho. These positions inspect watercraft to prevent the spread of zebra/quagga mussels and other Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) from infested states. The position will use an established protocol to inspect watercraft and conduct hot washes on high-risk conveyances; conducting quality control activities at watercraft inspection stations; setting up and taking down portable traffic signs on daily basis; and properly entering detailed watercraft data on an electronic inspection form. Minimum Qualifications These qualifications are mandatory requirements.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail when conducting watercraft inspections
  • Work in various types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to bend and crawl underneath watercraft, when necessary and with or without a reasonable accommodation
