Job Title:
Quality Control Associate Job Description The Quality Control Associate ensures that in-process and finished products meet strict customer and regulatory specifications through precise measurement, testing, and documentation. This role works in a cleanroom environment, performing detailed visual inspections and physical tests on packaging materials used in the healthcare and medical device industries. Responsibilities Check in in-process and finished products according to established quality procedures and job orders. Perform strength and tensile testing using rulers and measurement tools, including measurements down to 1/64th of an inch. Review products for accurate color standards and consistency with customer requirements. Test seal strength to ensure pouches and packaging meet specified performance standards. Conduct visual inspections and precise ruler measurements of pouches to confirm they meet customer specifications and documented criteria. Identify pouch quality discrepancies or defects and clearly communicate issues to machine operators and relevant production personnel so they can correct problems. Complete all required labeling, documentation, and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Pack finished products into bundles and prepare them for shipping according to company procedures. Follow cleanroom protocols and use appropriate PPE while handling films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions. Collaborate with coworkers in the lab and with production personnel on the production floor to maintain quality and workflow. Maintain an organized work area and manage repetitive testing tasks while remaining focused and detail oriented. Adhere to all lab rules, including restrictions on fragrances and personal phone use in the lab. Essential Skills Experience with quality control or lab testing, preferably in an industry setting; academic lab experience is acceptable. Ability to perform precise measurements using rulers and other tools, including measurements down to 1/64th of an inch. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in visual inspection and documentation. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment such as production, manufacturing, or food service. Good organization skills and the ability to manage repetitive tasks while maintaining high quality standards. Comfort with sitting for long periods of time while performing detailed measurements and quality checks. Ability to communicate clearly with machine operators and team members regarding defects and quality concerns. Reliability in transportation and attendance, ensuring consistent presence for scheduled shifts. Comfort working with films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions in a controlled environment. Ability to work well in a team-based environment with coworkers in the lab and on the production floor. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree, preferably in a science-related field, or equivalent non-degreed experience with quality or lab experience. High school diploma candidates will be considered with demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and comfort with repetitive work. Prior experience in quality control inspection, cleanroom work, or laboratory environments. Familiarity with PPE use and adherence to cleanroom or controlled-environment protocols. Friendly, collaborative attitude and strong interpersonal skills when working with a small team. Interest in growing into other departments or leadership roles within a stable and expanding organization. Comfort working in an environment that supports complex regulatory requirements for medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and life sciences products. Work Environment This is a full-time, second-shift position, typically working from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. New hires train on first shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) for approximately 2 to 4 weeks, then transition to second shift once they can work independently. The role is based in a cleanroom environment where employees must wear PPE and steel-toed shoes and follow strict protocols, including no fragrances and no phone use in the lab. The work is team based, with about 4-5 people in the cleanroom, and involves close collaboration with lab coworkers and production personnel on the production floor. A significant portion of the day is spent seated, performing around ten measurements per pouch during quality checks and tests. The facility works with advanced materials such as films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions used in healthcare packaging. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
