Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector performs product and material testing in a manufacturing environment to ensure components meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role runs inspections and tests on materials, in-process parts, and finished products, documents results, and flags defects or non-conformances. The position works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to validate product performance, support troubleshooting, and continuously improve product quality and processes. Responsibilities Perform testing on materials, components, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Inspect in-process and completed parts for quality, consistency, and conformance to engineering and customer requirements. Set up, operate, and maintain testing equipment, inspection tools, and related instruments. Record, analyze, and document test results and inspection data accurately and in a timely manner. Create and maintain electronic inspection and test reports using quality systems or reporting tools. Identify and report defects, non-conforming materials, or process deviations and escalate issues as needed. Support failure analysis and troubleshooting activities when products do not meet standards. Verify physical and mechanical properties of materials used in production. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve testing methods, processes, and overall product quality. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures during all testing and inspection activities. Use visual inspection techniques to detect defects and verify overall product quality. Follow work instructions, blueprints, and specifications to perform accurate inspections and tests. Essential Skills Experience in manufacturing, quality, or testing roles. Hands-on experience with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and similar measuring instruments. Ability to perform quality checks and inspections on materials, components, and finished products. Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and follow detailed work instructions. Basic math skills, including working with percentages, measurements, and geometry concepts. Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency. Problem-solving skills to support failure analysis and address non-conforming products. Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with quality assurance practices and visual inspection methods. Ability to work safely with testing equipment, tools, and industrial components. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Familiarity with quality systems or electronic reporting tools for documenting inspections and test results. Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams. Work Environment This position operates primarily on a first shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The role is based in a manufacturing, production floor, or lab setting and is hands-on, involving frequent use of testing equipment, inspection tools, and industrial materials. The work may require standing for extended periods, lifting components, and moving between workstations and testing areas. The environment is oriented around safe handling of industrial components and adherence to established safety and quality procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dixon, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
