Job Description

2nd shift 3 pm - 11 pm The Defect Quality Technician's primary role is to reduce, eliminate, track and report cured tire scrap. This position will be responsible to conform to the company quality systems and procedures as documented.
Essential Functions:
Identify, cut, and enter cured scrap. Classify scrap and repair tires. Perform "first piece" checks on mold start-ups. Troubleshoot press set-ups for shaping and closing cycle. Double check press loaders. Teach press loaders. Troubleshoot scrap causes, do "root cause" type analysis. Including reading press charts. Write and distribute temporary specifications. Make serial tins for unscheduled mold changes. Basic operation of the DOT test wheel to monitor testing on the overnight shifts. Communicate all issues and findings to technical and production personnel. Know the building and curing processes and the operators general work instructions. Track weekly serial changes and fill out weekly press shaping checks. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience/Skills:
Associates degree preferred and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Prefer three (3) years technical training and quality auditing and inspection experience (non-food related). Manufacturing experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to write and work from detailed technical or functional specifications
