Quality Manager Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our quality assurance team in a busy non-ferrous foundry and machine shop. This role is primarily responsible for inspecting cast and machined components to ensure they meet engineering and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience using hand inspection tools, interpreting prints and GD&T, and working within a manufacturing quality environment. Experience with CMM operation and programming (PC-DMIS) is a must and will be utilized to support advanced inspection needs and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform dimensional inspections on cast and machined components using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. Conduct first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections to ensure product conformance. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and customer specifications to verify part compliance. Record, document, and communicate inspection results clearly and accurately. Identify non-conformances and work with production to resolve quality issues. Maintain inspection records and support quality system requirements. Ensure all inspection tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Utilize computer systems for data entry, reporting, and documentation (Excel, ERP systems, quality software, etc.). Program and operate CMM equipment to support inspection activities. Develop and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS. Assist in analyzing dimensional trends and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or quality-related certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment. Strong experience using hand measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.). Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models. Experience with CMM operation and/or programming (PC-DMIS) is a strong plus. Computer proficiency (Excel, data entry systems, inspection software, etc.). Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
Industrial environment with exposure to foundry and machining operations. Standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 50 lbs) required. Use of PPE including safety glasses and hearing protection as required.
