Automotive Quality Technician Job Description This role ensures that automotive electronic products and components consistently meet rigorous internal and industry quality standards such as IATF and related automotive quality frameworks. The Automotive Quality Technician conducts detailed inspections, performs tests using precision equipment, documents results accurately, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical part in maintaining product safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction within a fast-paced, high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Inspect automotive electronic products and components to verify compliance with established specifications, norms, and quality standards. Perform tests using precision inspection and measurement equipment to assess product performance and quality. Conduct systematic and documented evaluations of finished products, identifying deviations and nonconformities. Propose and support the implementation of corrective actions to ensure conformity and drive continuous improvement. Provide technical quality support in the capacity of Quality Technician or Quality Inspector for quality processes related to customers and suppliers in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. Conduct Layered Process Audits (LPA) on a regular basis and document findings in accordance with internal and industry requirements. Apply standard automotive quality methodologies and core tools in alignment with AIAG standards to monitor and improve product and process quality. Use quality inspection tools and equipment effectively while reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Support root cause analysis activities by supplying accurate inspection data, participating in cross-functional problem-solving, and helping to verify the effectiveness of corrective actions. Understand and interpret customer-specific requirements (CSR), including technical and reporting expectations, to ensure compliance with customer requirements throughout process operations. Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and audits, ensuring traceability and proper documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to address quality issues, share findings, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of quality systems and methodologies, including IATF-related requirements, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and structured Root Cause Analysis. Communicate quality issues, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally in English, both in writing and verbally. Essential Skills High school degree or equivalent, plus 2+ years of education or experience in Automotive, Industrial, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related technical field, with preference for an associate degree or bachelor's degree. At least 2 years of full-time work experience providing technical quality support as a Quality Technician or Quality Inspector within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. Minimum 2 years of practical full-time experience conducting Layered Process Audits (LPA). At least 2 years of full-time experience performing systematic and documented evaluations of finished products to verify compliance with specifications, norms, and quality standards. Minimum 2 years of experience working with customer-specific requirements (CSR), including understanding technical and reporting requirements and ensuring compliance with customer needs during process operations. At least 2 years of hands-on technical experience applying standard automotive quality methodologies and core tools in accordance with AIAG standards. Proficiency in using quality inspection tools and precision test equipment for inspecting and testing automotive components. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical or mechanical schematics. Familiarity with quality management systems and methodologies, including IATF-related standards, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and structured Root Cause Analysis. Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to document findings and communicate with cross-functional teams clearly and professionally. Experience working in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment with a focus on product safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Automotive, Industrial, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Relevant quality certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or a strong desire to complete ASQ certification programs. Experience with automotive quality core tools in accordance with AIAG standards, such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC, is highly beneficial. Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to structured problem-solving and corrective action processes. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection, testing, and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality personnel. Comfort working with customer-specific quality and reporting requirements in an automotive environment. Work Environment The position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume automotive manufacturing environment focused on electronic products and components. The role involves frequent use of precision inspection tools, measurement equipment, and test instruments, as well as regular interaction with technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Work is performed within a structured quality management system aligned with automotive standards such as

core tools, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and formal Root Cause Analysis practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
