Quality Control Inspector Job Description The Quality Control Inspector performs detailed inspections of raw materials, first-piece, in-process, and final manufactured parts to ensure they meet established quality assurance standards. This role accurately completes and maintains all quality control documentation, applies standardized inspection methods and statistical process control, and collaborates closely with production and quality teams to identify and resolve non-conformances. Responsibilities Perform inspections of raw materials, manufactured parts, production assemblies, and sub-assemblies to verify conformance to quality assurance standards. Utilize established standards, methods, and procedures for inspection, testing, evaluation, and disposition of discrepant material. Apply statistical process control methodology as required to monitor and control critical part characteristics. Accurately complete all quality control documentation and inspection sheets in accordance with AS9100 Rev C standards. Follow verbal and written instructions, including blueprints, production travelers, work instructions, and process specifications, to complete a variety of inspection tasks. Verify that inspection equipment, machinery, and tools are properly calibrated and maintained in line with company policies. Notify machine operators and relevant personnel when non-conformances are found and document findings on the appropriate forms in accordance with quality procedures. Communicate improvements, problems, and quality issues to the Quality Control Manager or designated quality leadership. Work efficiently to achieve targeted goals and support production schedules. Perform hardness testing on parts and accurately record test data. Conduct visual inspections and use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall quality and operational efficiency throughout the company. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Proficiency in using standard measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers. Experience performing quality inspection and visual inspection of parts and assemblies. Knowledge and practical use of Windows operating systems. Strong math skills to support measurement, tolerance, and statistical evaluations. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or comparable experience. Experience working in a newer or modern manufacturing facility is beneficial. Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) concepts and applications. Ability to perform hardness testing and accurately record test data. Comfort working in a hands-on, production-floor quality room environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a newer manufacturing facility where the quality room is located directly on the production floor, providing close interaction with manufacturing operations. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, with regular use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other standard inspection equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Schaumburg, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
