Quality Control Technician Job Description This role supports production by ensuring that all food products consistently meet strict safety and quality standards. The Quality Control Technician monitors and improves food safety programs, conducts testing and inspections, and collaborates closely with production teams to maintain compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, identifying non-conforming products, and driving continuous improvement across the facility. Responsibilities Support production teams with food safety and quality-related activities to ensure products meet established standards. Coach employees on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), food safety, and food quality standards. Participate in process audit meetings to review performance, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions. File and follow up on vendor complaints, ensuring timely resolution and documentation. Manage and contain non-conforming products to prevent release and ensure appropriate disposition. Maintain and improve HACCP documentation and production records to support compliance and traceability. Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate measurements that support food safety and product quality. Conduct sensory evaluations of products and ingredients to verify flavor, texture, appearance, and overall quality. Conduct swab testing on production surfaces to verify sanitation effectiveness. Perform swabs for APC, Charm, EB and other microbiological or hygiene indicators as required. Implement USDA, FDA, and relevant international regulatory and customer compliance requirements within daily operations. Inspect labels and packaging to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper presentation. Participate in internal quality audits and support corrective and preventive actions. Complete long-term project improvement work to enhance food safety, quality systems, and operational efficiency. Contribute to project work related to quality, process improvements, and regulatory compliance. Use Microsoft Office, including Excel and database systems, to maintain records, analyze data, and prepare reports. Prioritize and plan work activities to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Apply strong root-cause analysis skills to investigate quality issues and support effective problem resolution. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related science discipline. Ability to taste food products with no relevant food allergies that would prevent tasting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sycamore, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
