Job Title:
Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector performs incoming and in-process inspections for electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies, ensuring all parts and components meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role uses a variety of inspection tools and gages, interprets technical documentation, and accurately records inspection results and non-conformities to support a high-reliability manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform incoming inspection of parts, components, and assemblies to verify conformance to engineering drawings and specifications. Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other gages, and compare results to blueprints and drawing notes. Interpret and work from manufacturing and engineering drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and notes. Conduct visual inspections and use appropriate inspection tools to identify defects, damage, or non-conformities. Update and maintain inspection reports and quality documentation with accurate, detailed findings. Document non-conformities clearly and thoroughly to support disposition and corrective actions. Support quality control activities for electro-mechanical, circuit board, and PCBA manufacturing as needed. Use inspection tools and gages correctly and consistently to ensure reliable measurement results. Participate in receiving inspection processes as part of a small, collaborative team. Assist in creating and performing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), when required. Contribute to quality documentation activities, including PPAPs, PFMEAs, and control plans, as needed. Follow established quality procedures and work instructions to maintain compliance with internal and customer requirements. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience in quality inspection, gage calibration, or a quality technician role. Proven ability to perform incoming inspection of parts and components. Strong ability to interpret manufacturing and engineering drawings, including dimensions and drawing notes. Hands-on experience using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and various gages. Demonstrated experience measuring parts and comparing results to blueprints and specifications. Solid understanding of quality inspection and quality control principles in a manufacturing environment. Ability to complete and update inspection reports and other quality documentation accurately. Experience identifying and documenting non-conformities in a clear and structured manner. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in electronics or electronic manufacturing is highly desired. Experience with circuit board manufacturing, PCBA, or electro-mechanical manufacturing is a strong plus. Familiarity with schematics and basic electronics terminology. Experience creating and performing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) is a plus. Exposure to PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities is a plus. Experience drafting PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and control plans is a plus. Ability to work effectively as part of a small quality team in a fast-paced production environment. Work Environment This position is based in an electronics manufacturing environment supporting electro-mechanical and electronic assembly production. Second-shift position operating from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Work is hands-on, using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and various gages at inspection stations and production areas. The environment is typical of an electronics manufacturing facility, with production lines, test equipment, and quality workstations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
