Wichita, KS Job Details 16 hours ago Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation Blueprint specification interpretation High school diploma or GED Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description SUMMARY The Quality Inspector I performs first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined, fabricated, and assembled aerospace components. This role ensures all parts meet customer specifications and quality standards through the use of precision measuring tools, documentation review, and adherence to established inspection procedures
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on aerospace components Verify parts conform to customer specifications using blueprints and inspection procedures Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, and gauges Follow manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts, and work instructions Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation and input required data Perform end-of-line inspection activities, including Certificates of Conformance Scan and process work orders across departments as required Operate inspection-related equipment such as hardness and conductivity testers Support part marking processes as needed Maintain accurate inspection and quality records Follow hazardous material handling and disposal requirements Communicate inspection results and issues clearly to appropriate personnel Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards
KNOWLEDGE
Blueprint reading and interpretation Basic inspection and measurement techniques Precision measuring equipment (PME) First Article Inspection (FAI) processes Quality documentation and reporting requirements Basic understanding of aerospace manufacturing environments
COMPETENCIES
Attention to detail and accuracy Basic math and measurement skills Strong work ethic and reliability Communication and teamwork skills Ability to follow instructions and procedures Self-management and accountability
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum one year of experience in an aerospace machining or manufacturing environment preferred Mechanical aptitude required Ability to read and interpret technical documents required Ability to obtain certifications for inspection processes (e.g., Rockwell, conductivity)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, and repetitive motion Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance Exposure to shop environments including machine noise and metal dust Frequent use of hands, wrists, and arms
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE U.S.
Citizen or Permanent Resident If a Security Clearance is required: Candidates "must/may need" to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance Successful candidates must be able to secure Program Access approval
