President About the Company We are a rapidly growing, world-class precision machine shop specializing in rapid-turnaround CNC machining for demanding customers and critical applications . We are seeking an experienced QA Manager / Quality Inspector to take ownership of our quality function and lead the company through AS9100 certification while establishing a scalable Quality Management System (QMS) capable of supporting significant future growth. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build the quality organization, establish best practices, develop processes, work directly with machinists and engineers, interact with customers, and help shape the company's growth strategy. Position Overview The QA Manager / Quality Inspector will be responsible for the overall leadership and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System. The primary objective of this position is to: Lead the company through successful AS9100 certification Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the QMS Establish robust inspection and quality-control processes Ensure customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements are met Develop a culture where quality is owned by the entire organization Provide hands-on inspection support in a high-mix, rapid-turnaround machining environment Support new customer acquisition and growth initiatives Develop the quality infrastructure necessary to support increasing production volume Identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity, consistency, and profitability The ideal candidate is equally comfortable reviewing a quality procedure, conducting an audit, inspecting a precision-machined component, talking with a customer, and working alongside a machinist to solve a quality problem. Key ResponsibilitiesAS9100 Certification Lead the organization through the complete AS9100 certification process Develop and implement the QMS required to meet AS9100 requirements Establish and maintain required procedures, work instructions, forms, and records Coordinate internal audits, management reviews, corrective actions, and continual improvement activities Prepare the organization for Stage 1 and Stage 2 certification audits Serve as the primary internal resource for AS9100 requirements Maintain certification and ensure ongoing compliance following certification Quality Management System Own and maintain the company's QMS Establish quality objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics Develop and maintain procedures for document control, records control, nonconforming product, corrective action, supplier quality, risk management, internal auditing, and continual improvement Establish effective processes for identifying and addressing root causes Manage corrective and preventive actions Ensure quality records are accurate, complete, and traceable Conduct regular internal audits and process reviews Drive continual improvement throughout the organization Inspection & Quality Control Perform first article, in-process, and final inspection of precision-machined components Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements Utilize precision inspection equipment including CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other measuring equipment Develop inspection plans and inspection criteria Verify calibration and control of measurement equipment Review first article inspection documentation, including AS9102 requirements where applicable Identify nonconforming material and manage the disposition process Work directly with manufacturing personnel to identify and resolve quality issues Manufacturing & Process Improvement Partner with Operations, Engineering, Programming, and Machining to improve manufacturing processes Identify recurring sources of defects, scrap, rework, and variation Utilize root-cause analysis and data-driven problem solving Develop inspection processes that support rapid-turnaround production without creating unnecessary bottlenecks Help establish standardized processes that improve repeatability and scalability Participate in new product introduction and process-development activities Support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization Customer & Supplier Quality Serve as a key quality contact for customers Support customer audits and quality-related inquiries Review customer-specific quality requirements Assist with quality requirements during new customer onboarding Support supplier qualification and supplier performance monitoring Manage supplier corrective actions when necessary Help establish the company's reputation as a high-quality, highly responsive manufacturing partner Growth Initiatives This position will play an important role in the company's growth strategy.
The QA Manager will:
Help establish quality systems capable of supporting significant increases in production Support qualification of new customers and markets Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions when quality expertise is required Help develop quality capabilities that differentiate the company from competitors Identify opportunities where improved processes, automation, inspection technology, or documentation can increase capacity Help build a quality culture that supports both speed and precision Assist leadership in developing the company into a recognized world-class rapid-turnaround machining operation QualificationsRequired 5+ years of experience in quality assurance/quality control within a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment Strong understanding of AS9100 Experience developing or maintaining a Quality Management System Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings Hands-on inspection experience with precision measurement equipment Experience with nonconformance, corrective action, root-cause analysis, and internal auditing Ability to work effectively with machinists, programmers, engineers, and management Strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment Strong problem-solving and communication skills Preferred Previous experience leading an organization through AS9100 certification AS9100 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training Experience with
ISO 9001
Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Experience with CMM inspection and programming Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing Experience with customer and supplier audits Experience implementing quality systems in a growing or newly established manufacturing operation Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and digital quality records Experience with statistical process control and process capability Experience with risk management and aerospace customer requirements The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is hands-on, entrepreneurial, and driven to build something exceptional.
