Job Description
Summary Objective:
The purpose of this position is to provide professional, technical, and administrative work analyzing data and conducting audits and reviews that provide command staff with thorough and timely evaluations of departmental performance based on state law, local ordinances, requirements of the Department of Justice, departmental policy, and training. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Conducts complex, specialized law enforcement internal performance audits and reviews to determine compliance with departmental regulations. Conducts field work investigations, data analysis, and interviews required to accomplish the audits. Conducts audits of incident reports, case files, search warrants, wearable video systems and use of force reports. Improves data collection and monitoring efforts to provide meaningful performance metrics. Conducts job audits, interviews employees and supervisors, analyzes position questionnaires, reviews performance appraisals, and obtains information to prepare recommendations regarding employees. Analyzes, researches, compiles data and submits recommendations on departmental performance. Provides technical assistance and instruction and explains policies, procedures, ordinances, and laws. Explains procedures to employees and prepares recommendations, correspondence, and documents to implement changes. Participates in and/or observes departmental training as necessary. Develops and designs audit and review work plans, project scopes, methodologies, and compliance testing instruments to facilitate internal audits. Produces and communicates written and oral reports on audit results for internal and external use. Identifies methods for improving the operations of the department. Performs related work as assigned. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Economics, Information Technology or related discipline. Five (5) years conducting research, audits, reviews, compliance work, and/or evaluations and reports including quantitative and/or qualitative data collection.EQUIVALENCY
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted.OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must not have been convicted of a felony or have any criminal action pending against them. Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis. Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening. Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test. Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. Applicants who have illegally bought or used marijuana, including medicinal cannabis, within six months of application will be disqualified. Applicants who have illegally sold marijuana, including medicinal cannabis, within one year of application will be disqualified. Applicants who have illegally bought, sold, or used any controlled substance or narcotic drug, other than marijuana, without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
