Job Description

Job Title:
Inspector Job Description The Inspector performs first piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure aerospace components meet strict quality and dimensional requirements. This role focuses heavily on first piece inspection for small production lots and requires precise measurement skills, strong blueprint interpretation, and thorough documentation of all quality control activities. Responsibilities Perform first piece inspections on small lot production to verify that initial parts meet all specified requirements before full production runs. Conduct in-process inspections to monitor quality during manufacturing and identify any deviations from specifications. Carry out final inspections on completed parts to ensure they conform to customer and aerospace industry standards. Inspect tolerances within .010 of an inch using appropriate precision measuring instruments. Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other basic inspection instruments to verify critical dimensions and features. Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria. Perform visual inspections to identify defects, damage, or nonconformities in parts and assemblies. Complete and maintain all applicable paperwork and quality control documents accurately and in a timely manner. Track inspection results and document nonconformances in accordance with established quality procedures. Collaborate with production and quality teams to communicate inspection findings and support corrective actions when required. Essential Skills Demonstrated knowledge of aerospace inspection practices and standards. Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately. Knowledge and use of all basic inspection instruments for dimensional verification. Experience performing quality checks, including visual inspection for defects and nonconformances. Ability to inspect parts with tolerances within .010 of an inch. Experience with aerospace inspection in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working in a large manufacturing facility. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and documentation. Ability to follow established quality control procedures and work instructions. Work Environment The role is based in a large, well-organized manufacturing facility focused on aerospace production. You will work around production equipment and precision inspection instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools. Work hours and shifts may follow typical manufacturing schedules, requiring reliability and consistency in attendance. Dress expectations align with a manufacturing setting, where appropriate work attire and any required safety gear support a safe and professional workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Deerfield, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
