Come build your career with BAE Systems. BAE Systems in Hudson, NH is seeking a motivated individual to join our fast-paced Lab Services team in a unique dual-role position. This is a hands-on opportunity to directly support our engineering labs while also immersing yourself in the world of cutting-edge Additive Manufacturing (AM). You ll play a vital role in supporting our Business Areas with laboratory integration and testing needs, alongside contributing to the day-to-day operations of our AM Center. This includes everything from part-job scheduling and printer setup on industrial-grade 3D printers ranging from fused-filament to high-resolution resin systems to post-processing and assembly of program hardware. You ll assist engineers with lab setup and support, and have the opportunity to contribute to the design, printing, and finishing of innovative components utilizing a wide range of high-performance AM materials. This position blends mechanical hands-on work with technical problem-solving, all while benefiting from the mentorship of experienced Lab Services personnel and AM engineers. In this dual capacity providing both Lab/Tech General Oversight and Additive Manufacturing support you ll be critical in ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for all engineering activities. This role fosters collaboration with engineers, programs, and cross-functional stakeholders, building a solid foundation in both testing lab operations and additive manufacturing and contributing to projects that push the boundaries of what s possible for our engineering and operational teams. This role requires a proactive individual capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced engineering environment, with a commitment to both meticulous documentation and hands-on technical work. It's an excellent opportunity to gain experience in both general lab operations and the cutting-edge field of additive manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Lab & Safety Compliance:
Oversee compliance with company policy / procedures and safety requirements across engineering labs, including conducting regular self-assessments, documenting findings, and supporting internal/external audits (DCMA, ISO AS9100). Request facility and IT work orders, track test equipment, and verify bench ESD compliance.Additive Manufacturing Operations:
Support the day-to-day flow of the AM Center, managing print build queues, preparing and verifying build files, operating and monitoring FFF and resin-based 3D printers, and performing post-processing tasks (support removal, assembly, finishing, inspection).Material & Logistics Management:
Track material inventory (filaments, resins, etc.), coordinate supplies, and maintain organized workstations.Technical Support & Documentation:
Assist engineers with design iterations, interpret technical documentation (drawings, models), and document build parameters, material usage, and results.Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:
Troubleshoot printer issues, identify opportunities to streamline workflows, and contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient lab environment.Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, programs, and cross-functional stakeholders to support project goals and contribute to the advancement of additive manufacturing technologies. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Associates Degree or High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum of 2 years of related work experience. Secret clearance eligible Must be able to lift 20-40lbs.General Lab Oversight:
Experience with maintaining lab compliance, tracking equipment, and supporting audit processes.Additive Manufacturing Support:
Familiarity with 3D printing processes (FFF, Resin), post-processing techniques, and material handling.Mechanical Aptitude:
Comfortable handling tools and fixtures, interpreting engineering drawings and 3D model files.Organization & Multitasking:
Proven ability to manage multiple lab requests from programs print jobs, schedules, and pop-up tasks while maintaining focus on safety and quality.Safety-First Mindset:
Strong commitment to following lab safety protocols, maintaining a clean work environment, and proactively reporting hazards or equipment issues.Team Collaboration & Independence:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary engineering team.Technical Communication:
Clear and concise written and verbal reporting skills, with the ability to document lab findings, part build parameters, material usage, and results in tracking tools like Excel/Access.Software Proficiency:
Competent in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with database use (Access or similar) for inventory and reporting is a plus. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Experience with lab set-up needs and support, test equipment and its metrology. Handson experience- building, assembling, or repairing mechanical components (e.g., robotics clubs, shop class, makerspace projects). Prior exposure /use
- of 3Dprinting hardware (FDM, SLA, DLP) and the associated slicing software Familiarity
- with a CAD packages such as SolidWorks, PTCCreo, Fusion360, or another parametric modeling tool. Demonstrate
- ability to follow written procedures, maintain accurate logs, and track inventory in a workshop or lab setting.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range:
$66017- $105628 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
