They utilize precision measurement instruments and testing equipment to detect defects, verify tight tolerances, and prevent non-conforming products from advancing through production. 2015 quality standards, and perform routine calibration on inspection tools to support continuous improvement and operational safety. Responsibilities Perform thorough incoming, first-article, in-process, and final inspections on manufactured parts Ability to measure and inspect tight tolerances Adherent to companies' policies and procedures Complete assigned inspection jobs on a timely basis Ability to complete work independently within a team environment Exceptional attention to detail Follow company procedures and quality management documentation Observes and identify various kinds of imperfections in metal workpieces or finished products. Recognize the best fit manner of documenting and reporting the problem, which could be caused by corrosion, rust, fractures, leaks, surface blemishes, and other signs of wear or machining errors Disposes of defective or scrap materials according to designated quarantine protocols, sort according to regulations, and cleans up workplace Wears relevant and necessary protective gear, such as eye protection, safety gloves, and steel-toe boots Performs other duties as assigned. Reads blueprints, engineering drawings, and job order specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements Verifies dimensions of machined workpieces for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators Performs routine verification and basic maintenance on inspection tools and gauges Setup any of the specialized testing fixtures required to perform measurement operations Communicates with co-workers, machinists, and supervisors to receive instructions, report non-conformances, and coordinate activities Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control (SPC) charts and complete non-conformance reports (NCRs) as needed Operating specialized testing, hardness testing, and surface roughness equipment Experience Strong technical and mechanical knowledge with the ability to conduct detailed product inspections effectively Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles is required Basic math and geometry skills for calculating tolerances and analyzing dimensional data accurately Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or quality certifications (e.g., CQT) preferred 2-5 years' experience as a quality control inspector or similar manufacturing role Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Prolonged periods of stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, and standing may be required.
