JOB SUMMARY

: The Quality Assurance Inspector provides quality control and assurance throughout all phases of the production process including raw material receipt, work in process, and the final product.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the essential duties required of the

QA Inspector:

Performs visual and dimensional inspections and other specified tests on raw materials, goods in process, and finished products. Tests, inspects, and approves raw materials based on established quality specifications. Uses observation and testing to identify faults in materials and manufacturing processes. Perform on floor inspection of work in process. Uses statistical methods to test product samples to evaluate the quality of full product batch prior to delivery to clients or customers. Develops, maintains, and posts logs, charts, and forms detailing quality levels, inspection data, and results of special quality studies for review by supervisors and production staff. Consults with supervisor to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products. Maintains quality records as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

Employee works under general supervision. Employee has little or no decision-making responsibility. The employee has little or no impact on the decisions of others.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Thorough understanding of inspection processes and procedures. Familiarity with ISO-9001 and AS 9100 is a plus. Preferred experience using traditional inspection equipment including height gages, calipers, shadowgraph, thread gages, etc. Preferred experience with measuring and inspecting fabrics, clothing, tailoring, etc. is a plus. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Position does not require any previous experience working with office software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, technical school education, or equivalent required; mathematics emphasis preferred. 0-1 year experience preferred. Basic, introductory on-the-job training.

Physical Demands/Efforts Prolonged periods sitting at a desk. Occasional physical exertion including some lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate testing equipment or gages. Mental & Visual Demands Considerable mental concentration to effectively execute complex tasks. Work requires frequent visual effort for extended periods of time. Visual acuity to work with small parts. Work Environment and Hazards Some areas of the building are not climate-controlled. Working environment is typical of an office setting. Infrequent exposure to hazards that require the exercise of caution with little likelihood of injury.
