Job Description

    QC Inspector
  • Job Description
  • The QC Inspector performs detailed quality inspection of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies to ensure they meet industry standards and customer specifications.
This role uses visual magnification and precision measuring tools to verify components, solder joints, and assemblies in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. The QC Inspector applies IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
standards, interprets technical documentation, and contributes to consistent, high-quality production.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Perform quality inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs), including surface mount and through-hole assemblies, in accordance with IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
standards. + Conduct detailed visual inspection using microscopes, scopes, and other visual magnification devices to verify solder quality, component placement, and overall workmanship. + Use and interpret basic electronic measuring devices to verify electrical characteristics and ensure assemblies meet specified requirements. + Use and interpret basic mechanical measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances of components and assemblies. + Review and interpret technical data packages, including blueprints, drawings, and specifications, to understand inspection requirements for electronic assemblies. + Perform bare board inspection to ensure printed circuit boards meet quality and reliability standards before assembly. + Document inspection results accurately and clearly using computer-based applications, maintaining records in accordance with internal procedures and industry standards. + Identify nonconformances, communicate findings clearly, and work with production and engineering teams to support timely resolution of quality issues. + Work in a self-directed manner to manage inspection workload and priorities in a fast-paced environment with ongoing production schedules. + Foster and maintain professional and productive relationships with production staff, engineering, and management to support continuous improvement and consistent product quality. + Follow established quality control and quality assurance procedures to support compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. + Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work area in the manufacturing facility.
  • Essential Skills
  • + At least 3 years of experience performing inspection of printed circuit boards, including surface mount and through-hole electronic assemblies.
+ Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001
standards for electronic assemblies. + Current
IPC-A-610
certification. + Experience with bare board inspection for printed circuit boards. + Ability to obtain and maintain operator certification for
J-STD-001.
+ Proficiency in quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance practices within an electronics or PCB manufacturing environment. + Ability to effectively operate visual magnification devices, including microscopes and scopes, for detailed visual inspection. + Ability to effectively operate and interpret basic electronic measuring devices. + Ability to effectively operate and interpret basic mechanical measuring devices, including calipers and micrometers. + Ability to review and interpret technical data packages, drawings, and blueprints for electronic assemblies. + Acceptable visual acuity and eye-hand coordination to perform fine, detailed inspection work. + Basic math skills to support measurement, inspection, and documentation activities. + Demonstrated proficiency in computer-based applications for documentation and reporting. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly document findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams. + Ability to work in a self-directed manner and manage tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Hands-on experience with SMT (surface mount technology) inspection and processes.
+ Experience working with printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies in a manufacturing setting. + Background in electronics or PCB manufacturing, including familiarity with inspection of components, solder joints, and assemblies. + Experience performing visual inspection using microscopes and other magnification tools. + Familiarity with quality inspection and quality assurance methodologies in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment. + Comfort working with long-term production schedules and recurring contract work. + Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships across manufacturing and office teams.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based in a small manufacturing facility with approximately 75-100 employees across the production floor and office.
The environment is very clean and climate controlled, supporting detailed electronic and PCB inspection work. The facility operates multiple shifts, with one opening on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) and one opening on 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.). While the primary need is on 1st shift, there is flexibility to consider 2nd shift for interested candidates. Work involves regular use of microscopes, scopes, and precision measuring devices on the manufacturing floor, alongside computer-based systems for documentation and reporting.

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
