Technical Proficiency Full Job Description What You'll Do:
ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Specialty Technician I to join our Baltimore team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Specialty Technician I performs field-based destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation activities in support of specialty construction materials testing projects. This role focuses on specialized testing disciplines such as structural steel inspections, welding observations, and/or non-destructive evaluation (NDE) while working under the direction of more experienced staff. The Specialty Technician I develops technical competency in specialty testing methods and inspection practices while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values. Responsibilities Performs destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials Conducts inspections of structural steel, reinforcing steel, and connections (welded and bolted) Performs field observations and inspections and collects samples for testing Documents findings in accordance with engineering and inspection standards Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers Reports changes in site conditions and additional testing needs Performs inspections in fabrication facilities when required Prepares and submits daily field reports and documentation Performs basic calculations and data reduction tasks Maintains and organizes field testing equipment Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment Attends project meetings as requested Performs other specialty testing and inspection duties as assigned Career Development As your experience grows, ECS will: Support you in enhancing your professional skills to advance and grow with us. What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications 2 years of related experience High school diploma or GED required Obtain two specialty certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy General industry OSHA 10 may be required If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Limited knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing methods Good understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations Ability to work independently under direction and as part of a team Proficiency with electronic devices and field reporting systems Basic math and data documentation skills Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and instructions Ability to calibrate NDT equipment (where applicable) Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies
Military Qualifications:
The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education, certification, and licenses requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications": E-4/E-5 The expected pay range for this role and location is $28-$45/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
