Full-Time Contractor (Minimum 6-Month Assignment with Strong Potential for Extension) Job Summary MS Companies is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer / Measurement Technician (PolyWorks) to support a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility in Alma, MI during a major quality system upgrade and multiple new product launches. This full-time contract position will serve as the site's primary PolyWorks and dimensional inspection resource, responsible for validating existing inspection gauges within a newly upgraded measurement system while supporting the launch of approximately 15 new production part numbers. The ideal candidate will possess advanced PolyWorks programming experience, strong metrology expertise, and the ability to work hands-on with gauges, fixtures, tooling, and molded components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a highly visible role requiring both offline programming capabilities and direct floor-level support to ensure dimensional accuracy, production readiness, and successful product launches. Required Skills & Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience programming and operating PolyWorks inspection software Strong understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Experience developing CMM inspection programs from CAD models and engineering drawings Hands-on experience with dimensional metrology, gauge validation, and measurement systems Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD data, specifications, and control plans Experience performing first article inspections, PPAP measurements, and production dimensional inspections Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship Preferred Skills & Qualifications Automotive manufacturing experience, preferably within a Tier 1 supplier environment Experience inspecting injection-molded plastic components Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and
IATF 16949
quality requirements Experience supporting new product launches and production readiness activities Familiarity with molding-related dimensional issues including shrinkage, warpage, flash, and sink Experience with multiple CMM platforms and portable metrology equipment Background in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Metrology Associate's Degree or Technical Certification in Engineering Technology, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field Day-to-Day Responsibilities Input, validate, and verify all existing inspection gauges into the plant's newly upgraded quality measurement system Run and certify inspection gauges to ensure measurement accuracy, calibration compliance, and system integrity Develop PolyWorks inspection programs from scratch for new tools, gauges, and production part releases Create and modify offline PolyWorks programs utilizing CAD models, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications Support the launch of approximately 15 new automotive part numbers by establishing inspection methods and validation processes Set up gauges, fixtures, probes, and measurement equipment while physically running sample and production parts through inspection routines Analyze dimensional data, identify process variation, and communicate findings to Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Tooling teams Troubleshoot molding-related dimensional issues including warpage, shrinkage, flash, sink, and tooling-related concerns directly on the production floor Generate inspection reports, maintain program revisions, and support PPAP and launch documentation requirements Serve as a hands-on technical resource during system implementation, gauge integration, and production ramp-up activities Physical and Environment Requirements Physical expectations and working conditions associated with this role may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and sitting for extended periods. Employees may be required to lift and move materials, gauges, fixtures, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, machinery, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required in designated production areas.
