SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the planning, monitoring, and reporting of the Authority's efforts in quality improvement and accreditation activities. Coordination of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, and Northern Michigan Regional Entity (NMRE) delegated functions, surveys, reviews, and plans of correction. Standing member of the QI Council who may act in the capacity of chairperson on various committees. Acts as Team Leader for Risk Management Committee that conducts a root cause analysis for Critical Risk Events and makes recommendations for system improvements for identified quality of care issues. Responsible for completing all QI Improvement System monitoring and reporting requirements on behalf of the Authority. The QI Coordinator is responsible for training staff and other stakeholders on QI and accreditation matters. This position plays a role in assuring the CMH is in compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with agency programs and departments in matters related to QI activities and compliance to standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in human services, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Three years of experience in an appropriate mental health or health-related field is preferred. Knowledge of QI processes and auditing procedures. Lived experiences with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders are valued.
Other:
Functional computer literacy in Microsoft Office Products. (i.e., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet use, and design is required. Will collect, analyze, and present data for purposes of improvement and compliance for agency enhancement. Recommends and interprets policies and procedures governing accreditation and quality improvement. Responsible for planning and preparing accreditation to meet compliance requirements and accreditation standards for the Authority. Acts as Team Leader for Risk Management Committee that conducts a root cause analysis for Critical Risk Events and makes recommendations for system improvements for identified quality of care issues. Provides consultation and expert advice to the Authority's Board of Directors and Management Team regarding CARF International accreditation standards. Ability to maintain a professional relationship with the public and Authority personnel. Work with the Clinical Leadership Team in determining program outcomes. Knowledge of departmental procedures. Work with all staff in attaining and maintaining MDHHS licensing, CARF International accreditation, and delegated functions of the Northern Michigan Regional Entity. Serves as liaison to Northern Michigan Regional Entity regarding Quality Oversight. Standing member of QI Council who may act in the capacity of chairperson on various committees. The QI Coordinator is responsible for training staff and other stakeholders on QI and accreditation matters. Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice, and emergency protocol.
