Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector ensures that manufactured parts meet all engineering specifications and quality standards by performing inspections throughout the production process. This role uses precision measurement tools, follows engineering drawings, and applies basic math and computer skills to verify accuracy and document results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform inspections of parts at various stages of production to confirm conformance to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, protractors, tape measures, and other hand and power tools to measure angles, dimensions, and features accurately. Follow engineering drawings and work instructions carefully to verify that parts meet required tolerances and quality standards. Conduct visual inspections, in-process checks, and final inspections of parts and assemblies to identify defects or nonconformances. Record inspection results accurately, maintain inspection records, and prepare required documentation in a clear and organized manner. Communicate inspection findings, quality issues, and status updates to production, quality, and other stakeholders as required. Support quality control and quality assurance activities by assisting with inspection-related tasks across different stages of production. Perform general labor and inspection-related tasks as needed, including handling and moving parts safely between work areas. Cross-train in other departments to support broader production and quality needs when required. Lift and move parts and materials, including items up to approximately 35 pounds, while following safe work practices. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production and quality objectives. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Experience with inspection tools such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, micrometres, tape measures, and protractors. Familiarity with brake press operations and measuring angles. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Basic high school math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, including lifting up to approximately 20 pounds occasionally, twisting, bending, and carrying parts from one location to another. Strong attention to detail and a high level of dependability. Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. Willingness to cross-train in other departments and work overtime as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience in quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance is beneficial. Inspecting parts and assemblies at different stages of production is an asset. Experience with visual inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection activities is advantageous. Familiarity with assembly processes and inspection of assembled components is helpful. Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with frequent interaction across teams. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with frequent interaction among production, quality, and logistics teams. Team members spend most of the shift standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks while handling parts and materials. Work involves regular use of precision measurement tools, hand and power tools, and basic computer applications. The environment requires adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Byron Center, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
