Job Description

SUMMARY The CMM Technician is responsible for operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect products and ensure conformance to engineering specifications. This role focuses heavily on CMM operation using PC‑DMIS software, interpretation of GD&T, and development or modification of inspection programs. The CMM Technician supports production, engineering, and quality initiatives through accurate dimensional inspection, data analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program, modify, and operate CMM inspection programs using PC‑DMIS Set up CMM fixtures and inspection strategies for new and existing parts Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure accurate measurement methods Perform dimensional inspections at various stages of the production process Troubleshoot CMM measurement issues and refine programs to improve accuracy and repeatability Select products for inspection and testing per control plans and inspection requirements Record, analyze, and report inspection data using appropriate statistical quality tools Identify and communicate dimensional nonconformances and support root cause investigations Assist engineering and production with dimensional reviews, PPAP activities, and new product launches Write, review, and update work instructions, inspection sheets, and quality documentation as needed Recommend improvements to inspection methods, processes, and quality standards Maintain CMM programs, inspection records, and calibration awareness Support compliance with IATF 16949, customer, and internal quality requirements Follow and promote all Human Resources, Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and respect while working collaboratively across departments Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department manager

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required Qualifications Hands-on experience operating and programming CMMs using PC‑DMIS Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Experience performing dimensional inspections in a manufacturing environment Ability to analyze inspection data and communicate results clearly Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience Two (2) to four (4) years of related quality or inspection experience Experience in an automotive and/or
IATF 16949
environment Prior involvement in developing or optimizing CMM inspection programs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Work in a manufacturing environment Exposure to heat, loud noise, dust, odors, dirt/dust and fumes Frequently stand, walk, push, pull, reach, and grasp Frequently lift and lower up to 50 pounds.
