Job Description

University of Michigan Health-West (Formally Metro Health) is looking for a Sterile Processing Educator & Quality Auditor. The Central Processing Educator & Quality Auditor is responsible for facilitating the development of system sterile processing education through active participation in orientation/on-boarding, training, on-going staff development and evaluation of compliance to standards. The Educator & Quality Auditor will also ensure infection control policies and procedures are strictly enforced. Routine audits will be performed and reported out on a scheduled basis.
Requirements:
Associates degree required Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum 2 years CPD experience required Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or obtained within 6 months of hire Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or obtained within 6 months of hire Experience as an OR Scrub Technician and/or Sterile Processing Technician in a supervisor role preferred
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Delivers orientation and onboarding for Central Processing staff. Individualizes, plans, implements, and evaluates orientation programs in response to staff learning needs and organizational goals. Organizes, facilitates and tracks compliance within the competency model for Central Processing including standards of work, regulatory compliance, specialty specific instrumentation, equipment and other areas directly impacting the quality of work within the Central Processing Department. Leads assigned system education/projects including, but not limited to, education for regulatory compliance, system priorities and quality metrics. Organizes, facilitates, and oversees quarterly education, including annual competencies for Central Processing. Collaborates with the department manager to coordinate the department quality monitoring program by facilitating data collection and analysis. Develops reports and tools directly aimed at impacting the error rate and outcomes of the department. Establishes standards of work and work instruction competencies for the department based on policies and procedures. Coordinates these records to ensure they are up-to-date and meet current practice standards. Researches and educates staff on new equipment, processes, or programs, as identified, regarding sterile process regulatory requirements. Ensures Quality Assurance program for all aspects of CPD is maintained, reviewed, and presented. Includes trending and benchmarking. Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
