Quality Technician:
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct testing procedures during manufacturing processes to ensure that products comply with quality standards.
  • Setting up test apparatus, operating equipment, maintaining equipment and facilities
  • Prepare test samples, perform destructive testing and analysis of welds using a plasma cutter, air chisels, and other destructing tools.
  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and analysis of welds using different testers.
  • Cut, polish, and etch weld cross-sections per control plan sample size and frequencies.
  • Keeping measurement equipment operating accuracy by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs
  • Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with standards
  • Technical skill ability to read and understand blueprints, documents and manual
  • Analytical, problem solving skills, verbal and written communication skill
  • Strong leadership skill and team work ability
  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skill
  • Ability to influence others to follow rules, regulations and process methods
  • Report any observations, for example inconsistent data, potential failure modes to management.
  • Physical strength and stamina to inspect output samples from each line using industrial standards, SOP and measuring techniques at periodic interval
  • Draft technical reports, testing reports and help with PPAP documentation and sample submission.
  • Follow Direct materials incoming inspection as per control plan
  • Knowledge about different quality tools, gages and their use for inspections and testing.
  • Follow all health safety and housekeeping policies, including keeping the work area organized
  • Maintain close communication with Engineers, Weld Technicians, Quality Assurance, and Production employees.
  • Conduct shift pass down with other employees
  • Checking that the machine operators, line leaders adheres to standard operating procedures and complying with inspection requirements
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports on a daily basis and generate weekly report of quality performance of each line
  • Suggest and participate in continuous improvement process
  • Doing safety audit and layered process audit periodically
  • Identify / suggest corrective action for process, product and audit nonconformance and follow the corrective action process for effective closure
  • Preserving test samples as per laid down procedure
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED or Technical education
  • Average computer skills on MS office (word, excel and power point)
  • 3 to 5-year experience as a Quality / Lab Technician preferably in Tier 1 Automotive parts manufacturers
  • Must have experience using standard measurement, inspection, and testing equipment in the inspection of sheet metal parts and assemblies.
  • Experience in MIG welding process and inspection is an added quality
