Position Overview:
This is a hands-on position and will require that the individual lead and monitor all aspects of quality assurance within the plant. The Quality Assurance Technician will be accountable for food safety systems and quality systems. This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs, and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall food safety and quality, the individual will work closely with the production, quality and maintenance teams to maintain optimal quality, safety.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Direct the day-to-day quality and food safety activities. Adjust quantities when requested by production associates ERP System (PLEX) Verify all ingredients and materials used are recorded in ERP System (PLEX) correctly and make any necessary adjustments. Include adjustments made in end of shift QA Report. Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures such as SQF, HACCP, GMP's, SSOP, process deviation, hold and release in ERP System (PLEX) and required paper forms Effectively communicate quality control expectations to a wide range of in-house employees Conduct metal detector challenges and observations Verify the calibration of all scales and thermometers Monitor GMP's for compliance Conduct sensory evaluations and enter the results into a database Ensure specification compliance Collect flour tailings and document findings Assist with solving problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending action Assist with training for GMP's Perform basic lab analysis (pH, moistures) on finished product Follow instructions as directed by the Quality Assurance leadership Ensure proper documentation of Quality Assurance disputes and/or concerns in daily QA Report. Send completed daily QA Report at end of every shift
General Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with team members from other shifts to ensure clarity and continuity Actively participate in Food Safety and Food Defense related activities Perform additional duties as directed
Education & Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent Post high school training in laboratory sciences or related preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years experience in food quality including GMP's, HACCP, food safety and sanitation, data collection and analysis, laboratory skills, etc. Experience in SQF preferred
Specific Competencies:
Ability to manage multiple priorities Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and solid math skills Excellent planning and organizational skills English language proficiency, both written and verbal Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
