Job Description

Summary/Objective The quality specialist position inspects materials and products, parts and components for quality and conformance to specifications. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds, among other non-conformances and findings to supervisors for corrective action. Performs all types of inspections, such as incoming, first article, in-process, and final. Compiles quality records. Assisting production departments in determining the dispositioning of defective items in-house and the Purchasing Department on defective product from outside vendors. Works with engineering on any problems discovered on blueprints and bill-of-materials and working with the Industrial Engineer on discrepancies with routers. Takes care of equipment calibration requirements for various departments. Uses measuring equipment such as optical comparator, Cadillac gauge, surf tester, and tri-mics, as well as reading blueprints, height gauges, and doing basic math. Competencies Reading, writing and verbal communication Initiative & Safety Conscious Analytical and mathematical skills Time Management Ethical and Team Oriented Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education and Experience Associate degree or equivalent experience Two (2) years of manufacturing experience in Quality Control or similar job function Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 1st shift - 7:00am to 3:30pm, or 2nd shift - 3:30pm to midnight, 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
