Job Description

Job Summary Piedmont Metals of Burlington is seeking experienced QC Coating Technician. The ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in industrial coatings, painting, plating, or metal finishing environments. This role requires individuals who understand coating application processes, coating thickness requirements, and quality inspection procedures using Dry Film Thickness (DFT) gauges and related inspection tools. Candidates must already possess coating inspection experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform quality inspections on coated, painted, and plated metal components Measure and verify coating thickness using DFT (Dry Film Thickness) gauges and inspection equipment Inspect coated surfaces for defects, adhesion issues, coverage, and overall finish quality Interpret customer specifications, coating requirements, and inspection standards Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records Work closely with coating, painting, plating, and production teams to ensure product compliance Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration standards are followedIdentify non-conforming materials and communicate quality concerns to supervisors Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines Maintain productivity and quality standards throughout assigned shift Qualifications Minimum 2 years of coating, painting, plating, or metal finishing inspection experience preferred Experience using DFT gauges and coating inspection tools required Experience in metal manufacturing or fabrication environments preferred Ability to read work instructions, specifications, and quality documentation Strong attention to detail and inspection accuracy Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in industrial coating or plating operations Knowledge of coating thickness standards and surface preparation requirements Familiarity with ISO, ASTM, or customer coating specifications preferred Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in hot, noisy, and industrial manufacturing environments Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing and metal finishing environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirators (when required), and steel-toe boots.
Pay:
$21.00 - $25.00 per hour
