Job Description

Job Summary The Quality Technician supports product quality throughout manufacturing and helps ensure the Company manufactures quality parts and prevents defects from reaching the customer. This role provides quality support across incoming, in-process, and final stages of production through inspection, testing, documentation, material control, system transactions, and escalation. Working closely with production and the Production Quality Lead, the Quality Technician performs required inspections, maintains records, identifies and documents actual or suspected nonconformances, supports containment, and exercises defined quality authority when product or material may not meet requirements. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. However, the Quality Technician may provide day-to-day guidance to operators, inspectors, temporary workers, or other personnel regarding inspection activity, containment, documentation, and quality requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inspection and Quality Operations Performs incoming, inprocess, outgoing, CTQ, and final inspection activities in accordance with established requirements, inspection criteria, and defined frequencies. Performs hourly visual inspections, including microscopebased inspection, for assigned products, presses, and work centers. Conducts daily CTQ inspections at startup, changeover, restart, and other defined intervals to verify critical product characteristics and process outputs remain within requirements. Conducts daily outgoing quality control inspections for assigned inprocess work orders, finished goods, or cappingstation output, as applicable. Conducts daily incoming quality control inspections and acceptance activities for raw materials, purchased components, and other received items. Compares inspection and test results against specifications, visual standards, control requirements, work instructions, and other defined acceptance criteria. Operates and maintains the Keyence vision system and other inspection equipment used to verify product conformity. Uses microscopes, gauges, measuring devices, vision systems, and other inspection or test equipment applicable to the work performed. Supports final inspection and related release activities before finished goods are approved for shipment or transfer. Collects production and inline inspection data, updates the Flash Report, and distributes the report to the appropriate personnel. Documentation, Systems, and Recordkeeping Creates, updates, and maintains Quality Alerts, inspection records, nonconforming material reports, logs, and other required quality documentation. Completes required inventory and qualityrelated transactions in NetSuite, including traveler entry, material movement, receiptrelated activity, and other system transactions tied to inspection, product status, or material control. Documents inspection findings clearly, accurately, legibly, and completely. Maintains accurate and complete quality records in accordance with company requirements and retention practices. Develops, maintains, and trends inspection data, defect information, and quality study results for internal review and followup. Nonconformance Control and Escalation Identifies actual or suspected nonconformances in raw materials, purchased components, inprocess product, finished goods, and related manufacturing activity through inspection, observation, testing, and review of results. Segregates, contains, or supports containment of suspect or nonconforming material in accordance with company requirements. Escalates significant issues, abnormal conditions, repeat defects, adverse trends, and quality risks promptly. Supports investigations and corrective action activity by providing inspection data, observations, and related documentation. Works with production and quality leadership to help maintain product flow while protecting quality requirements and preventing defect escape. Cross-Functional Support Works closely with production personnel and quality leadership to support quality discipline across manufacturing. Provides daytoday guidance to others, as needed, regarding inspection expectations, containment activity, documentation practices, and adherence to defined quality requirements. Supports audits, process checks, training followup, reviews, and other assigned qualityrelated activities. Authority and Decision Making The Quality Technician is expected to exercise sound judgment within defined quality requirements and escalation expectations.
This position has authority to:
Identify and escalate actual or suspected nonconformances, inspection failures, and related quality risks; Withhold acceptance of material or product pending review when inspection results indicate the item may not meet requirements; Place suspect or nonconforming material on hold in accordance with company practice; Stop release of product when quality concerns indicate the product may not meet requirements; and Stop production when required by quality concerns, product risk, or nonconforming conditions. The Quality Technician is expected to speak up and exercise this authority when necessary to prevent defective product from moving forward or reaching the customer. Required Skills and Abilities Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform repetitive inspection activity accurately and consistently. Ability to understand and follow specifications, inspection criteria, visual standards, work instructions, control plans, forms, and related quality documentation. Ability to recognize abnormal conditions, identify defects, and distinguish between acceptable and nonconforming product. Ability to complete paperwork, records, and system transactions accurately, timely, and completely. Ability to communicate clearly and promptly regarding defects, inspection findings, nonconformances, and quality concerns. Ability to exercise judgment, speak up, and take appropriate action within the scope of assigned authority and escalation expectations. Ability to work independently on routine inspection responsibilities while coordinating effectively with production and quality personnel. Proficiency in basic computer use, including data entry and completion of required transactions and reports in NetSuite, Microsoft Office, and similar systems. Ability to use the Keyence vision system, microscopes, gauges, and other inspection or test equipment applicable to the role. Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow direction, and work effectively in a manufacturing environment requiring consistency and focus. Key Outcomes and Performance Expectations Reports to work reliably for scheduled shifts. Completes required inspections accurately, consistently, and on time. Maintains complete, accurate, and timely inspection records, quality documentation, and system transactions. Identifies, documents, and escalates nonconformances and abnormal conditions promptly. Exercises quality authority when required to prevent nonconforming material or product from moving forward. Supports strong quality discipline and defect prevention across manufacturing. Helps protect the Company from quality escapes, customer issues, and avoidable product risk. Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of quality experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience performing inspection, documenting results, and working with qualityrelated records or systems in a production setting. Ability to learn and apply product requirements, inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and company quality processes. Preferred Qualifications Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or inspection in a precision manufacturing environment. Experience in plastic injection molding or a similar manufacturing environment. Experience using vision systems, microscopes, gauges, or other precision inspection tools. Experience using NetSuite or similar ERP, inventory, or quality documentation systems. Broader manufacturing experience with strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to succeed in a qualityfocused role. Work Environment and Schedule This position works a fixed 223 12hour shift schedule. The role does not normally rotate between shifts or areas, except as required by business needs. The work environment is split between the production floor and the Quality Lab. The position requires regular presence in an active manufacturing environment with machinery, moving equipment, and normal plant conditions. Weekend work is built into the normal schedule. Additional overtime, schedule adjustments, or temporary assignment changes may be required based on business needs. Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive motion. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to visually inspect product and detect defects, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to read screens, labels, forms, travelers, and other written or electronic documentation, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle parts, inspection tools, keyboards, and related equipment. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work safely in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and moving equipment. Other Requirements Must be able to successfully complete preemployment screenings, including a background check, in accordance with company policy and law. Must be able to work the assigned schedule and support overtime, weekend work, schedule adjustments, and temporary assignment changes based on business needs.
