Job Description

The CMM Operator IV is a senior-level quality and inspection role responsible for programming, operating, and optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment to ensure precision and compliance of aerospace-grade components. This role serves as a technical expert, supporting production, mentoring junior operators, and driving quality improvements through advanced inspection techniques and data analysis. Key Responsibilities Operate and program CMM equipment (e.g., PC-DMIS or similar software) to inspect complex components Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) requirements Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision parts Analyze measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports for internal and external customers Identify nonconforming material and initiate defect documentation (DMRs/NCRs) Troubleshoot CMM programs, fixturing, and measurement issues Develop and optimize inspection methods and work instructions Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, and MRB teams to resolve issues Audit documentation such as: Certificates of Conformance (CoC) Certificates of Analysis (CoA) First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) Train and mentor junior CMM operators and inspectors Support continuous improvement and root cause analysis initiatives Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required (technical degree preferred) Typically 5 8+ years of CMM inspection or quality experience Strong proficiency with: CMM programming software (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent) Blueprint reading and GD&T Experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and lead technical efforts Preferred Experience Aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing Experience with tight tolerances and complex geometries
Knowledge of:
AS9100 quality standards Root cause / corrective action processes Experience mentoring or leading junior team members Work Environment Precision manufacturing / inspection lab environment May involve working with small, high-tolerance components Requires strict adherence to quality and documentation standards Additional Requirements Must meet
ITAR/EAR
export compliance requirements (U.S. person status required) Ability to work assigned shifts and support production schedules #PRO
