Position Description The position performs a wide range of testing tasks and laboratory administration to support polyurethane foam research & development, and quality evaluation. This role works under the direction of the Technical Manager and collaborates with the technical team to perform physical and analytical testing Essential Duties and Responsibilities Physical Testing Cut foam blocks and pillows on the band saw into test specimens according to ASTM standards. Perform physical testing on foam samples including: Indentation Force Deflection (IFD) Compression Force Deflection (CFD) Compression Set Tensile Strength, Tear Strength, and Elongation Recovery Time Airflow Testing Ball Rebound Density Dynamic Fatigue Sieve Test for the gels Accurately record, verify, and report physical testing results in excel sheets Identify unusual or inconsistent test results and communicate findings to the Technical Manager. Analytical Testing Perform analytical testing on raw materials, quality samples, and foam samples using laboratory instruments such as: DSC Karl Fischer Near

Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and weekly validation as required. Laboratory Administration Perform daily data entry and maintain organized documentation of results. Maintain laboratory chemical inventories and assist with inventory management. Assist with coordinating and scheduling annual instrument calibrations with vendors. Maintain inventory of retained quality samples. Participate in quarterly chemical inventory and assist with reconciling and updating inventory records. Perform monthly disposal of laboratory chemical waste in accordance with safety guidelines. Ensure laboratory environmental conditions remain within ASTM testing guidelines. Assist with laboratory housekeeping and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Create Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of new lab process, testing method or instrument, when required. Assist with ordering laboratory supplies. Contact vendors or suppliers as needed. Submit sample orders and/or purchasing requests. Ensure accuracy of results and maintain precise experimental records. Collaborate with managers and technical staff on project activities. Receive, label, and properly store incoming laboratory chemicals and materials. Requirements Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity. High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate/college degree in a science-related field and/or previous laboratory experience is strongly preferred. High regards for personal safety and the safety of others. Ability to safely work with laboratory equipment. Basic understanding of laboratory instrumentation and testing methods. Ability to learn analytical instruments and laboratory testing procedures. Math and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Physical Demands and Abilities Basic physical mobility. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks. Ability to use hands for keyboarding, measuring, handling materials, and operating laboratory equipment. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch when required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in an environment with intermittent noise within safe levels. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. independently or heavier items with team lifting.
