About Us Creative Flavors by Esther is a family-owned food manufacturer specializing in custom flavorings, ingredient blends, and formulations for food and beverage companies. We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality & Regulatory Compliance Technician to manage our quality-control systems, regulatory documentation, food-safety programs, nutritional analysis, and product-labeling requirements. Overview The Quality & Regulatory Compliance Technician will oversee the company's day-to-day quality and compliance activities. This includes managing FDA and current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements, supporting SQF certification, maintaining audit readiness, reviewing production records, and ensuring product and labeling information remains accurate and current. This is a hands-on role requiring regular interaction with company ownership, production employees, suppliers, customers, certification organizations, and third-party auditors. Duties Quality Control and Food Safety Manage and maintain the company's quality-control and food-safety programs. Oversee compliance with FDA regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices, company procedures, and customer requirements. Lead the implementation, documentation, and ongoing management of the company's SQF certification program. Maintain readiness for FDA, SQF, GMP, kosher, customer, and third-party audits. Conduct internal inspections and audits covering sanitation, allergen controls, traceability, production practices, and recordkeeping. Review batch records, production documents, quality checks, and supporting records for accuracy and completeness. Monitor production-floor compliance and communicate required corrective actions to employees and management. Investigate deviations, nonconforming materials, customer complaints, and quality concerns. Document and monitor corrective and preventive actions through completion. Maintain supplier approvals, ingredient specifications, Certificates of Analysis, Safety Data Sheets, and regulatory records. Coordinate mock recalls, traceability exercises, food-safety training, and document reviews. Regulatory Labeling and Nutritional Analysis Calculate nutritional profiles using approved software, USDA data, supplier documentation, and other reliable resources. Prepare and update Nutrition Facts panels, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and serving-size information. Review product labels for compliance with applicable FDA requirements. Verify ingredients, sub-ingredients, allergens, nutritional values, and product claims. Update labels and nutritional information when formulations, ingredients, suppliers, or serving sizes change. Prepare product specifications and technical documentation for customers.
Formulation and Document Control Maintain controlled records for recipes, formulations, specifications, labels, nutritional calculations, and quality programs. Track formulation, ingredient, supplier, process, and labeling changes. Compare revised formulations with previous versions and document all relevant changes. Confirm recipe quantities and product information with company ownership and production personnel. Ensure employees have access to current, approved production documents. Protect confidential company formulations, customer information, and proprietary records. Manage multiple compliance and documentation assignments while meeting required deadlines.
