Job Description

Position Summary:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections of complex, close tolerance machined parts, subassemblies and final assemblies. This role supports in-process to full First Article and final inspection activities using established inspection plans and a wide range of conventional inspection equipment. The inspector ensures compliance with internal, customer and regulatory quality requirements throughout manufacturing, special processing and final acceptance.
Essential Job Functions:
Strong understanding of precision machining, mechanical assembly, and close-tolerance inspection methods. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T per
ANSI/ASME
Y14.5M, and related charts and tables. Demonstrated ability to apply advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry, for dimensional verification and inspection calculations. Experience with in-process, First Article, and final inspection methodologies. Working knowledge of conventional inspection equipment and measurement techniques. Knowledge of inspection requirements related to special processing and finishing operations. Experience generating nonconformance documentation and supporting corrective action activities. Familiarity with ERP systems for inspection record keeping and quality data compilation. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Training and Experience:
High School diploma, or 2 years of trade school or vocational education. 2 to 5 years experience in mechanical assembly and inspection techniques on hydraulic components. Requires the use of advanced shop mathematics together with the understanding of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, etc.
Visual Acuity:
Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
Hearing Ability:
Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
Working Conditions:
