Position Summary:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process inspections to ensure parts meet required specifications and quality standards. This role includes inspecting parts throughout production, assisting with final inspection and decarburization testing, conducting audits and capability studies, recording inspection data, and identifying non-conformances. The Quality Inspector ensures all work meets quality requirements and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection Operations:
Perform in-process inspections on parts during various stages of production. Assist with final inspection to verify product conformance prior to shipment. Conduct decarburization (decarb) testing as required.
Quality Control:
Inspect parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Read and interpret blueprints to verify dimensional and specification requirements. Perform Rockwell hardness testing as required. Identify and report non-conformances promptly.
Data Recording:
Accurately record inspection results and maintain quality documentation. Ensure traceability of materials and inspection results.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance:
Assist in performing internal audits. Participate in capability studies and process evaluations. Support implementation of SPC and other quality initiatives.
Lab & Testing Support:
Perform titrations for process tanks as required. Assist with monitoring lab processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE. Maintain a clean and organized inspection and lab area. Comply with all quality, environmental, and safety standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
GED or high school diploma required; additional training in quality or manufacturing preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in a quality or manufacturing environment preferred. SPC (Statistical Process Control) experience is an asset.
Skills:
Experience with decarburization testing preferred Knowledge of titrations and lab processes Ability to perform Rockwell hardness testing Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Ability to read and interpret blueprints Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
