45307 The Quality Assurance Technologist establishes and monitors all phases of diagnostic quality assurance testing for the Diagnostic Imaging Departments. In addition, performs a variety of Diagnostic technical examinations and procedures. This requires independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purpose, in accordance with standard of practice and code of ethic of Radiologic Technologists.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance and Records
  • Performs all Diagnostic Imaging equipment quality assurance testing. This includes exposure control, generators, x-ray tubes, screens and cassettes, radiographic processing techniques, view boxes and protective devices, computed Radiology. Safety
  • Responsible for insuring compliance with all State and Federal regulating agencies (DNV, OSHA, NYS DOH, etc.). Responsible for initiating the proper corrective action when a problem is identified. Patient Care
  • Provides high quality radiographic examinations and technical procedures.
Selects proper technical factors, based on diagnosis, age and adheres to departmental protocols. Operates equipment efficiently, completing exams without undue delays. Practices the code of ethics of Radiologic Technology. Assesses and maintains knowledge of the patient's condition and responds to changes appropriately. Documentation
  • Documents on the patient care and equipment records. Performs clerical duties related to the completion of the diagnostic procedure as directed. Completes all procedures in PACS ensuring that there are no QA issues. Teaching
  • Participates in the education of departmental and institutional personnel on quality assurance and radiation exposure issues. Attends Radiation Safety Committee. CQI
  • Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and service provided. This includes, collaborating efforts with the Radiation Safety Officer and/or Radiation Safety Committee on issues of quality assurance and radiation safety. Communication
  • Promotes open/direct communication with physicians, staff, patients, family or significant others, department Director and physisists.
Participates in the Quarterly Radiation Safety Meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE Minimum five years of experience. One year of experience performing Quality Assurance procedures.
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of AMA approved Radiologic Program.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Special training in Quality Assurance testing on diagnostic equipment, radiographic processing methods, view boxes and protective equipment. Registered by the A.R.R.T. preferred. Valid New York State Radiographic license from the Department of Health. OTHER Perform the function as the Quality control supervisor as assigned.
