The QC Technician 1 at Zircoa plays a crucial role in supporting the company's strategic goals by conducting accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in-process items, and finished goods.
Essential Functions:
Perform chemical and physical testing, including density, porosity, sieve analysis, contamination testing, pH measurement, and shrinkage evaluation. Inspect and sample raw materials as necessary. Prepare samples for further analytical testing using a Shatterbox. Enter production samples into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). Communicate test results promptly and effectively. Prepare and maintain documentation accurately. Enter test results into LIMS for record-keeping. Document and manage sample retains, including storage and disposal procedures. Clean and upkeep laboratory equipment and glassware. Respond to emergency calls for running tests or equipment maintenance.
Competencies:
Maintain and troubleshoot basic laboratory equipment such as balances, mixers, and pH-meters. Notify appropriate personnel when test results deviate from specifications or show unusual trends. Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols. Be able to multitask effectively, managing multiple testing procedures and priorities simultaneously. Work independently and efficiently to ensure timely completion of tests.

This role operates in laboratory, manufacturing, and warehouse settings. Standard office equipment like computers and phones are also used.
Physical Demands:
Requires the ability to talk and hear, and frequently involves standing, walking, manual dexterity, and reaching. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, handling drums and bags, pulling water samples, and managing gas cylinders.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time, salaried non-exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary.
Travel:
Required travel to and from the warehouse.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred. 1-3 years of experience in an industrial laboratory preferred.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
