This role is responsible for performing quality audits, reviewing processes and products, supporting daily inspection functions, and helping ensure that customer requirements, internal standards, and production quality expectations are consistently met. The Quality Technician will work closely with Quality, Operations, Production, Shipping, Receiving, and Maintenance teams to identify issues, document findings, support corrective actions, and promote a culture of quality throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities Perform daily quality audits throughout production, processing, packaging, shipping, and receiving areas. Conduct process and product reviews to ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and quality standards. Inspect material and finished product for defects, damage, nonconformance, or customer-specific requirements. Document audit results, inspection findings, nonconforming material, and quality-related concerns accurately and timely. Assist the Quality Manager with daily quality functions, reporting, follow-up actions, and continuous improvement activities. Support investigations into quality issues, customer complaints, internal defects, and process concerns. Help identify root causes and assist with corrective and preventive actions. Verify that production processes are being followed according to established procedures and work instructions. Communicate quality concerns to the Quality Manager, supervisors, and production team members as needed. Support calibration checks, quality records, traceability documentation, and other quality system requirements. Assist with training employees on quality expectations, inspection standards, and proper documentation practices. Participate in internal audits and help maintain compliance with company quality procedures. Monitor cleanliness, organization, handling practices, and product protection throughout the facility. Promote safe work practices and follow all company safety policies and procedures. Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by the Quality Manager. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in quality, manufacturing, steel processing, pickling, slitting, packaging, inspection, or industrial operations preferred. Ability to read and understand work instructions, customer specifications, production paperwork, and quality documentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product or process concerns. Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of Microsoft Office or similar systems. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while following direction from the Quality Manager. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to interact professionally with production employees, supervisors, managers, and other departments. Willingness to learn company quality standards, customer requirements, and production processes. Preferred Skills Experience with quality audits, inspection procedures, corrective actions, or nonconforming material processes. Familiarity with steel processing, pickling, coil handling, material traceability, or manufacturing quality systems. Knowledge of basic measurement tools and inspection methods. Experience working in an ISO-based or structured quality management system environment. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing environment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility during the shift. Ability to occasionally lift or move materials as required by the position. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, and safety footwear. Must be able to work around industrial equipment, moving material, and production activity. Work Environment This position is performed primarily in a steel processing and manufacturing environment. The Quality Technician will spend time both on the production floor and completing documentation or reporting activities.
