Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector inspects and tests wire harness assemblies using drawings, schematics, work instructions, and test tools, while also supporting production by assisting with basic wire harness assembly tasks such as cutting, stripping, and crimping wires. This role plays a key part in ensuring products meet quality standards in a light manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Inspect and test wire harness assemblies using drawings, schematics, work instructions, and test tools to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. Perform visual inspections of components and assemblies to identify defects, nonconformities, or deviations from specifications. Assist production teams with assembling wire harnesses by cutting, stripping, and crimping wires as needed. Follow established quality assurance and quality control procedures to maintain consistent product quality. Document inspection results accurately and communicate issues or concerns to production and supervision in a timely manner. Work closely with manufacturing staff to support continuous improvement of quality and processes. Maintain a high level of attention to detail while inspecting parts, components, and finished assemblies. Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and safe in accordance with company standards. Essential Skills Previous quality control or quality-related experience in a manufacturing environment, such as machine operation with self-inspection or packaging with visual inspection responsibilities. Experience performing visual inspections in a production or manufacturing setting. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects or irregularities quickly and accurately. Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and basic schematics. General manufacturing experience and familiarity with production workflows. Commitment to quality assurance and quality control practices. Ability to work effectively on a first-shift schedule and maintain reliable attendance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing industry environment, particularly in roles requiring inspection of parts or products. Quality assurance, quality control, or quality inspection functions. Comfort working in a light technical setting such as a panel shop or similar production facility. Interest in learning how to build electrical control panels and develop a skilled trade. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work methodically and efficiently. Work Environment This role operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility to adjust the start time up to 7:00 a.m. when needed. The work takes place in a smaller, privately owned panel shop with approximately 30 people across the entire operation, fostering a close-knit and collaborative atmosphere. The facility is located in an old airport hangar and offers a light technical setting that is generally clean, organized, and structured into different cells building various types of panels for multiple industries. Team members use standard manufacturing tools and test equipment to assemble and inspect wire harnesses and electrical control panels. The environment emphasizes training, skill development, and a supportive culture where people are taught how to build electrical control panels from the ground up. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troutdale, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
