Job Description

Position Summary The Quality Inspector's primary responsibility is to ensure materials, components and documents are in compliance with engineering specifications, prints, purchase or work order requirements, quality standards and regulator standards. This role supports product quality and operational efficiency by verifying items meet industry standards. Additionally, the quality inspector will be incorporated into the quality HPT and train in additional areas within quality to help support existing business inspection and testing activities, quality systems and practices, continuous improvement and purchased commodities to assure compliance with customer contractual requirements at minimum cost to the division. Once trained this individual will work a flexed shift bridging first and second shifts. Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming components, raw materials, production parts and assemblies for conformance to drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements. Ability to pull requirements from Enovia for product drawing and technical specifications.
  • Review certifications, test reports, material traceability, and supplier documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform dimensional, visual, and mechanical inspections using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, comparators, and other inspection tools.
  • Ability to read prints, interpret GD&T requirements and validate features per the requirements of TS-002.
  • Verify compliance with applicable quality standards, including
AS9100, ISO 9001
customer requirements, and internal procedures and document in SAP. Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure traceability of inspected materials.
  • Generate and complete First Article Inspections.
  • Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials in accordance with established quality processes and document via the notification process in SAP.
  • Work with suppliers, purchasing, quality, and engineering teams to resolve discrepancies and nonconformance issues.
  • Support internal/external audits, prepare records, and demonstrate compliance.
  • Recommend continuous improvement test and inspection methods as well as active participation in all elements of the quality HPT.
  • Ensure proper handling and preservation of materials and components.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized inspection area.
  • Cross training in one or more areas of the quality department including any of the inspection or test areas depending on the needs of the department. Training areas could include bond check, O&G test and inspection or EMS test and inspect. Set up, operation and performance of defined inspections and/or tests, record and validation or results, documentation of non-conformances. Qualifications
  • Experience in receiving inspection, quality inspection, or manufacturing inspection, preferably in aerospace or a regulated industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection plans.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with quality systems and standards such as
AS9100, ISO
9001, and FAA or customer-specific requirements.
  • Proficiency in using standard inspection and measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, various gages, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation skills.
  • Basic computer skills for entering inspection results and reviewing records.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with management and coworkers.
  • Demonstrated effort toward self-improvement by gaining new knowledge/skills and accepting new assignments.
  • Ability to complete certified operator training modules and associated requirements with the operator certification program.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years inspection or quality experience.
  • Must be able to read prints and GD&T experience
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree preferred.
