Quality Reporting to:
Quality Manager Job Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all food grade carton paper products manufactured at the facility. This includes inspecting raw materials, monitoring production processes, and testing finished goods to verify they meet all applicable quality standards and regulations. The Quality Technician works closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties performed by employees in this position will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and protocols for all stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials and packaging components to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks at critical control points during production
  • Sample and test finished goods to ensure they meet food safety, performance, and customer requirements.
  • Document quality data and maintain detailed quality records.
  • Identify, investigate, and report on quality issues or non-conformances.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality problems.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to resolve quality-related concerns.
  • Train production staff on quality control practices and quality-related SOPs.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of quality audits, both internal and external.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality improvement projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a relevant technical field) or 3-5 years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role within the food packaging or manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must be fluent in Microsoft office applications (i.e. outlook, excel, word).
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Work Environment:

Employee works in a common area shared with others with no division of space. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals found in the plant such as Isopropyl acetate, ethyl alcohol, lacquer thinner, etc. May experience ambient temperature extremes on hot, humid days. Required to wear hair nets, beard nets (if applicable), and safety glasses.
