Job Description
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position plays an important role in supporting Production and Quality Assurance by performing routine product and environmental testing, monitoring food safety standards, documenting results, and communicating quality concerns. This is a temp to perm position. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers and testing equipment, and able to work efficiently in a cold, wet production environment. Responsibilities Perform routine sampling and testing of products at various stages of production. Test raw materials and identify, document, and communicate out-of-specification results. Perform microbiological testing of product and environmental samples. Conduct follow-up testing when results are outside specifications. Verify that necessary adjustments are made and recheck products following adjustments. Help enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety requirements. Perform food safety inspections of incoming shipments and delivery trucks. Verify product codes and maintain product traceability. Conduct quality and food safety testing, including: pH testing Wash water chemistry testing Water and air temperature monitoring Metal detector verification Percent oxygen testing Product cut quality and blend ratio evaluation Total volume testing Package weight monitoring Seal integrity/leaker testing Finished product temperature monitoring Code date verification Equipment calibration Bar code readability verification Collect quality, CQI, and shelf-life samples. Accurately document test results, inspections, and corrective actions. Enter quality data into computer systems. Communicate inspection and testing results to Production and Quality team members and management as needed. Assist with additional Quality Assurance laboratory duties and projects. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic science and technical aptitude. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to read and understand safety rules, product specifications, and other work-related documents in English. Ability to complete routine reports and email correspondence in English. Comfortable performing basic mathematical calculations and using a calculator. Ability to operate basic measuring equipment such as scales and thermometers. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow testing procedures. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet required testing frequencies. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to work in a cold and wet environment for an entire shift. Ability to work the hours and shifts required by the production schedule. Willingness to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, when needed. Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
