Job Description

PMI is an established and fast growing
ISO 9001/AS 9100/ISO 13485
certified contract manufacturer of high precision machined parts and electro-mechanical assemblies in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania (18936). We provide manufacturing services from concept, through prototype and production, to just-in-time delivery. PMI has been delivering products to an array of industries including semi-conductor equipment, medical devices and surgical instruments, electronics, aerospace and defense, etc. for over 40 years. The CMM Programmer will develop, maintain, and execute Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs to ensure manufactured parts meet precise engineering specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. This role involves using CAD models and blueprints to create inspection routines, troubleshooting measurement discrepancies, and collaborating with production teams to improve quality processes.
Key Responsibilities Programming & Inspection:
Develop, write, and optimize new CMM programs (using PC-DMIS preferably or similar software) from CAD models and 2D engineering drawings.
Operation & Setup:
Set up and operate CMM equipment to measure complex, high-precision components.
GD&T Analysis:
Apply advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles (ASME Y14.5) to interpret drawings and define inspection points.
Data Reporting:
Analyze measurement data and generate comprehensive inspection reports to verify conformance to customer requirements.
Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot and debug programs to reduce inspection cycle times and improve efficiency.
Process Improvement:
Participate in First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP activities, and root cause analysis for non-conforming materials.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM machines and probing systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
3-5+ years of experience in CMM programming and precision mechanical inspection.
Software Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with CMM software, preferably
PC-DMIS, Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of GD&T principles and blueprint reading.
Metrology Tools:
Proficiency in using conventional measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
Technical Skills:
Ability to work with CAD models (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
