Newport News, VA (2-3 months) What You Need Apprentice certification, Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in a relevant field 1+ years of related experience 1+ years of programming experience in SpatialAnalyzer What You Will Do Utilizes metrology calibration systems and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy control requirements. Lays out and assembles a variety of alignment and measurement equipment involving compound angles and complex contours where the establishment and coordination to exacting tolerances of numerous reference points between several planes are required. Performs measurement surveys using photogrammetry, total stations, laser trackers or other electronic 3-D instruments. Uses computer aided designs (CAD) and/or graphic user interface software for design. Plans work to be performed and determines methods and sequence of operations working from ship design drawings or own designs. Sets up and operates optical instruments to check overall and detailed alignment, fit, or adjustment of ship construction. Prepares operational sequences and AC plans covering parts fabrication and assembly to be performed by others. Analyze and process raw measurement data to produce compliance and procedural reports; monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes and controls.
