Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the quality of product by testing raw materials, finished product and equipmentRESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and perform microbiological and organoleptic analysis on various incoming ingredients and finished products.
- Routinely conducts accurate and timely analytical testing of incoming raw materials and finished products. Analysis consists of pH, Total Solids, Ascorbic Acid Titration, Total Titratable Acidity, Brix, and package integrity testing.
- Perform calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and ensure general good lab procedures.
- Conducts environmental swabbing for allergens and sanitation validations.
- Manual and electronic record keeping of laboratory results with sense of urgency if reporting on unsatisfactory results to QA Manager.
- Responsible for the QA/ Lab supply inventory and ordering.
- Responsible for reviewing and filing Certificate of Analysis of incoming ingredients to ensure all specifications have been met.
- Assist QA Manager in developing and implementing food safety and quality programs throughout the production facility.
- Train production employees on good manufacturing practices and food safety procedures.
- Responsible for placing non-compliant product on hold and performing risk assessments with the team.
- Other duties as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education:
College Diploma or University Degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or related subject.Experience:
2+ years experience working in Quality Assurance laboratory.- Previous experience working Night Shift.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Microbiological laboratory ability with 3M petri film.
HACCP / BRC
experience is an asset.- Highly motivated individual with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are required.
- Proficiency in computer systems and programs (Word, Excel & Outlook required).
- Ability to work in fast paced factory environment and ability to work Night Shift hours.
