Job Description:
- The Columbia, SC office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior Field Engineering Technician to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.
Job Responsibilities:
- + Field observation and documentation of construction activities for structures, roads, parking areas, utilities (especially storm water collection, sanitary sewer, power, communications/internet, and others), retaining walls, and other construction.
Required Skills/Experience:
- + Prior experience on construction projects (5+ years is preferred) + High School degree or higher + Work may require access to military facilities + Technician certification (ACI, ICC, SCDOT or AASHTO) or the ability to obtain within 6 months + MSHA 5000-23 Training or the ability to obtain within 6 months + Excellent mathematic computational skills + Possess good oral and written communication skills + Attention to detail and well-organized + Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-office team + Strong professional work ethic and desire to perform at a high level + Advanced Knowledge of Soil and Concrete Laboratory testing + Interest in working outdoors and on construction sites, at all times of the year + Basic understanding of, and the ability to use hand tools + Must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside + Strong mechanical aptitude preferred •
Other Requirements:
- + Valid Driver's License + Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check + Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening + Project sites can be throughout the southeast.
